3 Weeks - But who is counting???

Where did the summer go????  It seems like we just got back to Redmond and the RV Park and now it's only 3 weeks from today before our work is done.  For the most part, it's been enjoyable and we have met a lot of wonderful RVers and will keep in touch with many of them.

Our last shift is on Sunday the 24th and will start packing up the motorhome on the 25th.  We'll take the coach to Bend on the 25th for our annual oil change and servicing.  On the 26th we will head over the hill to Florence, Or for a week.  Drop off the pickup in Veneta and return back to the park for one night before heading south for the winter.  Once we get set up in Apache Junction, I will fly back to Eugene on the 8th, grab the pickup and start driving south and hope to arrive back on the 11th.  Of course, I will geocache along the way to keep my daily streak alive.

Stay tuned for further developments.

Back In Central Oregon

We arrived back in Redmond Friday afternoon after driving through snow - sleet - rain and strong gusty winds. But, we made it safe and sound.

We pulled into our normal RV spot - leveled the coach and got it set up for the summer. We will be the night and weekend RV Park hosts until the 1st of October, so not much summer travelling for us this year.

The blog may or may not be updated much during the summer, since it will be the same thing day after day, but then you never know.

I did manage to find several new geocaches in the area to keep my streak of consecutive days alive. I will fly back to Arizona next week and get the pickup and bring it back for the summer. We can't be here with just one vehicle.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Sitting in Standish, Ca

So far, the journey to Redmond has been quite eventful. When we left Apache Junction on Monday, there wasn't even a hint of a breeze. By the time we got to Wickenburg, the winds were blowing around 35+ mph with stronger gusts. We finally stopped for the night in Henderson, Nv at Arizona Charlies RV Park.

Tuesday, we started north again and again, strong winds so we stopped in Hawthorne, Nv for the night. In the morning, I looked at the weather forcast up the road and since there were "gale" force winds again, we opted to spend another night and see what the weather looked like on Thursday.

Today, we left Hawthorne and headed north and planned on stopping in Lakeview, Or for our last night before arriving back in Redmond. But, looking at the weather again in Lakeview and after driving thru several snow squalls, we stopped for the night in Standish, Ca.

The weather for tonight and tomorrow looks OK for travel, but it will be damn cold. I'm not hooking up the water tonight since the low is in the low teens and I don't want to thaw out water pipes in the morning.

The wind is blowing and it's snowing, but were snug and toasy in the motorhome.

Stay tuned.

Where oh Where

It can't be time to leave Apache Junction and head north for the summer - can it???

It seems like we just got here and now it's time to leave. Well, we've been here 5 1/2 months, but it sure doesn't seem like it.
'
Cheryl has been active quiting up at the club house. 3 days per week, the local quilters gather up there to work on their projects and comment on anything and everything. We call it "Stitch and Bitch" instead of quilting

And then there is Bruce. I've done a ton and I mean a ton of geocaching down here and have been pretty much accepted into the local geocaching community. I really don't want to leave cause there are so many geocaches (thousands) in the area that I haven't had a chance to find.

We've gone to 3 NASCAR races since we arrived here in October. 2 in Phoenix and 1 in Las Vegas. In fact while we were in Las Vegas I finally went to a casino. Fort McDowell casino isn't any place that I want to go. 15 miles from here. I went once this year and that was enough.

When we arrive back in Redmond, we will be working for the Deschutes County Fair & Expo RV park. We will be the night and weekend hosts. Our hours are 5-9 Monday thru Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. But, we get our space plus a wage for doing it, so instead of paying, they are paying us. And, when we return here in the fall, we will be working the Meridian RV Park booth at Mesa Market. Again, we get our space rent paid. Back in the workforce again. Gave Santa My List

Unfortunately, he said that I wasn't near good enough this year for a Harley Davidson, Yamaha 4x4 quad or a new Corvette. I guess I'll try again next year.

Update From Meridian

Just enjoying the Arizona weather and relaxing. I've been doing a lot of geocaching and increasing my find count. I've pretty much done everything close by, so now I'm back doing it in Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek.
Friday night we had a wonderful Veteran's Day program. All branches of the service (both Canadian and American) were recognized individually. Then, we had a short performance by the Uptown Angels (actually 3 sisters) that did a 40s and 50s USO type tour with old songs. They were very good and the 45 minutes went by in a hurry.
Today, Keith and I are off to Phoenix International Raceway for the next to the last NASCAR race of the year. No - I'm not driving. We're taking a tour bus. And of course, rain is in the forcast.

Friday

Spent most of the day lounging around the motorhome and enjoying the last day of nice weather for awhile. The winds picked up around noon and were gusting up to 45 mph and blowing dust and sand. When we went up to the "happy hour" tonight, only 20 people showed up. The new activity director is going to have to be straightened out or this park will slowly go downhill. If this is what a Friday night is going to be like, we won't be going again.

Tomorrow, the rains and cool weather will be upon us for the next week. Yuck!!!!!!!! I guess I'll have to go and get a library card from the Apache Junction library so I'll have something to read.
